Individual membership
By aligning with a recognised professional association like PMSA, project managers show that they are aware of what constitutes legitimate practices based on particular standards, methodologies and guidelines widely supported by project managers around the world and are committed to a code of conduct and ethical practice; and ongoing professional development.
This is realised through PMSA Membership and its associated benefits. Project practitioners are able to apply for membership across three levels; Associate Membership, Full Membership and Professional Membership. Members sign and adhere to the PMSA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and undertake active participation in a programme of sustainable professional career development and association activities

Full Membership
Full members are those members who have been practicing project management for at least 3 years and hold an NQF 6 qualification related to the industry in which they practice or without an NQF 6 have been practicing project management for at least 5 years…READ MORE
Professional Membership
A Professional Member is a member in good standing whose knowledge, skills, experience and contribution to the project management industry is consistent with the requirements of this PMSA status level. Members hold an NQF 7 equivalent in Project Management and possess a minimum of 3 years industry experience of consistent professional practice against a recognised PM methodology. Critical Skills
STEPS AS
GUIDANCE WITH THE CRITICAL SKILLS PROCESS:
- Ensure you apply at the correct Professional Body related to your qualifications and profession
- Minimum Requirements to qualify for Critical Skills: NQF7 qualification and 3 years working
experience in Program/Project Management
- Foreign qualifications must be verified through the
SAQA process
- Local South African qualifications must be SAQA recognized at the required NQF Level
- All the above
requirements should be loaded on your PMSA membership c.v. profile to indicate your
competency
- Competency as follows: Proof of experience indicating
managing projects,
indication of at least 3 years working project experience and include projects samples of your work
reflecting your project management of a project from initiation to
close out
- Prior to your Critical
Skills application, you first have to be an approved PMSA member
- This is an online application therefore all information and documents should be completed and uploaded on the system, and not mailed to us

- With submission of your Individual membership application you will receive a system generated invoice of R880
- Your application will be sent to the grading committee for assessment. This process takes about 3-4 weeks if all documents required are submitted
- On receival of your membership outcome from the grading committee, you will be notified to pay the annual fee
- When you receive a system generated notification that the annual fee payment was allocated you can apply for critical skills. This process takes 2-3 weeks
- Do not pay the R3000 critical skills fee unless the Individual membership application fee and annual fees was settled
- The PMSA letter and certificate will be sent 3-4 weeks after the annual fee allocation
- The critical skills letter will be sent 2-3 weeks after feedback from the grading committee

Associate Membership are not eligible to apply, only Full or Professional.
