Branch Governance

Project Management South Africa (PMSA) Branches serve as the regional and international operational arms of the organisation, ensuring that PMSA’s purpose, professional standards, and member value are effectively delivered across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Governed by the PMSA Branch Charter and the Branches Executive Committee (BEC) Terms of Reference, the branch structure is designed to expand PMSA’s presence, strengthen membership recruitment and retention, provide CPD-accredited professional development opportunities, and represent PMSA within provincial, regional, and industry structures.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the branch network is led by the PMSA National Branches President, Fortune Mbele, who chairs the National Branch Executive Committee and provides strategic leadership to all Branch Presidents across regions, including Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Namibia, and the DRC. His mandate includes driving national recruitment campaigns, overseeing member value delivery through professional designations and CPD, ensuring transformation and inclusivity, and representing PMSA at national forums and policy engagements.

Each branch is managed by a voluntary Branch Executive Committee composed of elected officials responsible for governance, events, financial compliance, member engagement, sponsorship development, and local partnerships. Branches are required to host a minimum of ten member events annually and one regional conference every two years, while maintaining strict compliance with PMSA policies, POPIA, King IV governance principles, and the Companies Act.

Performance is measured through a formal Branch Scorecard covering governance, membership growth, operations, relationships, and representation. This structure ensures that PMSA branches remain disciplined, sustainable, and strategically aligned to advancing project management professionalism across Africa.
