TOPIC:   Who sits before you?

PRESENTER:   Kevin Johnson, Senior Deputy Principal and National Stakeholder Manager for Varsity College

Kevin Johnson currently holds the position of both Senior Deputy Principal and National Stakeholder Manager for Varsity College. That is just his day job, as, in addition, he is the Founder and chairperson of The Ride4 Education Trust – a fund established to give those in need of an education a foot up.

He is also the Founder of the School Leadership programme to empower young leaders to mature into great leaders. Add to that the Co-Founder of the Counsellors Forum and ‘Project Life’ which are platforms created to develop Counsellors and Life Orientation teachers in their professional capacity. 

Kevin completed a UNISA Bcom Degree through Varsity College as well as the comprehensive ADvTECH Mentor Training Programme and is a qualified Neuro Linguistic Programmer, Time Line Therapist and Life Coach.  As a Varsity College alumnus, he has worked his way through several positions at Varsity College and ADvTECH before landing in his most natural place, that of Senior Deputy Principal and Life Coach. Kevin has been elected onto the Board of  MACE (Marketing Advancement and Communication in Education) which is a body focused on maintaining excellence in marketing and advancement in Higher Education, and has recently taken the role Chairperson for the KZN region of MACE.

Kevin still has time for a few personal interests; including Mountain Biking with a purpose, Leadership, Mentoring, Coaching, and Model Trains. He is married to Hayley and they have two boys not only keep him on his toes but are his anchor and sounding board too!

To sum up Kevin’s outlook on life, he says “Life is a journey, live in the moment, make the most of what you have and don’t waste time on the things you don’t have. Remain humble, have a big faith, and enjoy the ride!”
