ANGIE DOYLE
Travelling light - the pros and perils of lightweight documentation
Have you ever been on a long haul overseas trip, where you loaded your hand luggage with items like laptops, books and electronic devices – just to make sure that you weren’t bored on the flight? Only to be left trudging around airport duty free shops while waiting for a connecting flight, wondering why you feel like you packed bricks in your backpack…
Projects carry a lot of baggage too… documentation.
Someone has to create it, someone has to read it, someone has to sign it, someone has to (or is meant to) maintain it, and eventually someone needs to figure out if it is still valuable. That’s a lot of work for something we might not even use!
Agile approaches value working software over comprehensive documentation. But what does that really mean?
Join us as Angie Doyle explores:
- The principles of lightweight documentation
- The difference between short-lived, low fidelity documents and long-lived, high fidelity documents
- When do we produce documents on an agile project?
- How much is enough?

BIASE DE GREGORIO
Ignore middle managers at your peril
Lack of Executive buy-in is known to be one the leading causes of failed Agile transformations! But what about another level of management buy-in that can either make or break your agile transformation efforts… Middle management.
Based on his experience in large corporate organisations undergoing an agile transformation, Bias has encountered massive support and buy-in from senior leadership and executives. Yet, still some of these transformations have failed to see the significant improvement in results that there were expecting. Middle management are often overlooked in Agile transformation initiatives, yet they are the people most effected by the change… and therefore the most likely to resist.
In his talk, Biase focuses on how to manage successful change by:
- Suggesting reasons why middle managers resist change
- Typical behaviour from middle management undergoing a transformation
- How to transform middle management into change agents
- Key practices, tips and techniques on how to deal with this challenge
