At the PMSA Annual General Meeting on 10 December 2015, a revised organisational structure was approved for PMSA. This will be reflected in the new PMSA Memorandum of Incorporation, which will be circulated to members early in 2016.
Amongst other changes, the new structure sees a departure from the traditional 'Executive Committee' approach to volunteer activity, in favour of Strategic Working Committees, each of which will be run by volunteers with the support of the National Office, and charged with achieving specific objectives by harnessing the subject matter expertise of our member base.
PMSA is inviting its members to nominate themselves as volunteers. To provide context and to explain the specific volunteering opportunities, as well as the commitment required to fulfill volunteer obligations, we will be hosting a volunteer orientation workshop on Saturday, 6 February 2016, at the PMSA National Office in Rivonia (this venue may change should the volume of participants warrant a bigger venue).
PMSA has always depended on the volunteer contribution of its members. Those who have volunteered over the years have discovered several benefits, including the opportunity to:
- Exercise their management and leadership abilities in a relatively low-risk environment
- Contribute their energy and insight to a rapidly growing profession
- Engage and work with their peers and in doing so enhance their professional network
- Earn professional development points towards professional certifications and designations
If you would like to start your year off by giving of your time and talent to PMSA, we hope to see you at the orientation workshop. Be sure to RSVP.
If you are unable to attend the workshop but would like to become a volunteer, kindly contact the National Office on (011) 257-8003, or send email to admin@projectmanagement.org.za.
