ABOUT THE TALK

PMSA Western Cape invites you to a presentation by Tony Cooksey, titled: 'Project Managers, are you socially switched on?', on Tuesday evening 29th April 2014.
In this discussion, Tony will discuss the advantages and benefits of using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a means of dealing with conflict in construction and engineering contracts. He will focus more specifically on the use of Mediation and Arbitration as a means of resolving contractual disputes that arise during construction and engineering projects.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Tony Cooksey BSc (Eng.) (Hon), Wits; Registered Professional Engineer, (ECSA); Registered Professional Construction Project Manager, (SACPCMP)
Tony is a qualified registered professional Structural/Civil Engineer & Project Manager with wide experience in commercial, mining, industrial, metallurgical and chemical plant developments, and project management. He is currently the Divisional Director – Africa Management Services at Mott Macdonald PDNA and specializes in Project Management, pit to port & industrial projects. He functions as director of multidisciplinary mega projects which involve Project Management teams for Transnet’s port developments in the Eastern Cape and BHP Billiton’s Manganese division.
Tony has served as a forensic investigator for the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and as a disciplinary tribunal member for the same council. He is also a qualified mediator and is a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators of Southern Africa.
