ABOUT THE EVENT
Quality management strategy is an important component of any project management plan. This has to somehow show in every work package how products will continuously meet standards and customer requirements. Project managers are usually constrained with ambitious budgets to hit the performance targets on (scope, time, cost, risk, benefits, quality) Products and Services delivered in projects must be fit for purpose. Why do we then have Technical Debts in projects?
In our talk we will discuss various factors contributing to technical debts in projects and strategies of measuring and avoiding technical debts. Project managers must hit deadlines and protect the quality levels. What are the normal practical challenges product quality? Why do we have so many projects failures on quality in our midst? Could thereby a root cause other than technical or management problems? Compromising the quality level of anything delivered in projects can take many forms, but example results from such situations as: Incomplete documentation; reduced testing; Sub-optimal designs; Lack of appropriate training (e.g. for end users, customers or support teams) last but not least non-compliance with standards. We further explore some insights on the damaging long-term effects any compromise on quality levels can have in terms of the total cost of ownership of the final project products.
