PRESENTER: Brynn Gerson
In recognition of the significant role that women play in our society including business, PMSA KZN saw it fit to honour women by inviting a lady speaker to represent them during their month.
Job Title: Senior Manager: ICT
Company: Dube TradePort
Responsibilities: Management, development and implementation of the Dube iConnect Information Technology and Telecommunications Strategic Plan.
Brynn began her journey in the IT industry in 1993 whilst studying through UNISA for a BCompt. Her career began organically with making UTP flyleads in her spare time after all of the admin work had been completed. Having been asked to assist with the creation of a stores database, Brynn moved on to the computer side of IT and then into distribution.
Fast forward to 2003 when Brynn moved, with her growing family, to Pietermartizburg and began to get excited about the Web Development and Telecommunications sectors. This lead to the beginnings of a small Data Centre in the offices of the company Brynn was working for at that time. The introduction of Broadband services into the South African economy led to an increased uptake of hosted services and the business grew to encompass other areas within Kwazulu Natal and then, the rest of the country and beyond.
When the opportunity arose to take on the Senior Management role for Dube iConnect, Brynn was very excited to take on the challenge and, in 2014, she took up the mantle and loves every second of working as part of a hard working team on such an exciting project.
