Three topics were discussed during the previous members meeting; and due to popular demand and positive feedback from members, EXCO has resolved to conclude the discussions by tackling the last four topics viz. impact of project management at municipal level, community involvement, use of technology and how is the current state of economy impacts projects delivery.

Concluding discussions on current trending topics in SA

PMSA KZN Exco office bearers Vusi Manana, Mondli Mbambo and Fortune Mbele led members in discussions of the current trending topics within SA, and how they impacted project management. Three topics were discussed during the previous members meeting; and due to popular demand and positive feedback from members, EXCO has resolved to conclude the discussions by tackling the last four topics viz. impact of project management  at municipal level, community involvement, use of technology and how is the current state of economy impacts projects delivery.

 
This will be an interactive session – an opportunity for all attendees/members to take part in the discussions.

PRESENTATION

PMSA KZN Exco office bearers Vusi Manana, Mondli Mbambo and Fortune Mbele led members in discussions of the current trending topics within SA, and how they impacted project management. Three topics were discussed during the previous members meeting; and due to popular demand and positive feedback from members, EXCO has resolved to conclude the discussions by tackling the last four topics viz. impact of project management  at municipal level, community involvement, use of technology and how is the current state of economy impacts projects delivery.
This will be an interactive session – an opportunity for all attendees/members to take part in the discussions.
 
 
TOPIC:   Can project management, community participation, use of technology reduce the number of failed projects especially at municipal level. 
 
1. How can project management be effectively implemented at municipal level to improve the success of projects delivery.
2. Do we have necessary skills, technology, tools, processes to deliver effective project management?
3. Create a platform like Hackathon whereby citizens can propose solutions that addresses socio-economic challenges thru project management (formal/informal).
4. Managing projects under difficult economic conditions (down grades and very low growth).

PANELLISTS:   Vusi Manana (President PMSA KZN), Mondli Mbambo (Ex-President PMSA KZN), Fortune Mbele (COO PMSA KZN)

Vusi Manana is Programme Manager at the State IT Agency.  He has 20 years of project management experience, mostly in telecoms and IT. Qualifications: Post-Grad Diploma in Programme and Project Management - Cranefield. Prince2 Practitioner. B. Admin degree - UNISA

Mondli Mbambo is a passionate project management professional and practitioner. He holds a Masters Degree in Project Leadership and Management. Mondli is a Project Manager by choice, not by chance. He has worked with various consulting firms as their Project Management Specialist and has been facilitating Project Management lectures for the past 11 years. He sees lecturing as the strategic platform to share real life case studies on various projects that he has worked on. Mondli is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Professional member for Project Management South Africa (PMSA) where he has also served as the President of KwaZulu-Natal region from 2013 to 2017.

Fortune Mbele is Project manager at Mr Price Group with 7 years experience as Project Manager, mostly in IT infrastructure, Software Development and Retail ( Fashion & FMGC).  Qualifications : BEng Industrial Engineering and Certified Associate in Project Management  (CAPM)
