ABOUT THE EVENT
The PMO and Portfolio Management: Can the business absorb these changes?
 |
Businesses are dealing with an unprecedented amount of complexity and change as they respond to shifts in the market, while at the same time, driving efficiencies into their operational teams and processes. To survive, they may have to rapidly transform many aspects of their organisation. How they execute their transformation strategies is critical to their success.
Portfolio Management Offices (PfMOs) are ideally placed to enable senior management to focus on the overall change landscape. Located between the delivery teams and senior management, they have an overall view of the total portfolio of change. The PfMO collates critical information relating to its initiatives and provide this to senior management to assess, approve and construct a portfolio of change that will deliver the greatest contribution to strategic objectives taking risk, investment return and resource constraints into consideration. An element often overlooked in the prioritisation process, is the business' capacity to absorb the compound changes. The PfMO is typically the first to identify this risk and has a critical responsibility to provide the required information to enable informed decisions.
During this session, Dalene Grobler will look at a PfMO's practical approach to assessing the organisation's ability to absorb the compound impact of its portfolio of change and how it informed the project prioritisation and sequencing process.
