ABOUT THE EVENT
Willem Louw has spent the majority of his career in the development and implementation of capital projects, primarily at Sasol, and Sasol Technology. Research for his PhD into the role of the executive sponsor in the success (or not) of Megaprojects in South Africa allowed him to become intimately acquainted with the capital project environments of Transnet, Eskom and the Gautrain Management Agency.
Willem will share what he has learned, during his career, about project procurement management and more specifically the contract management thereof. He will also spend some time on perspectives and learning around owner/client resources and the ability to act as (in-house) owner representative in managing the project lifecycle in particular from an owner perspective. Part of this will relate to the 'fun' three years he spent on the Board of Group Five, experiencing how owners/clients are seen by contractors at the same time pondering how it worked while on the other side of the fence.
