ABOUT THE TALK

 Project managers are highly focussed and capable people. But they're still people. And what's more, they work with people. Indeed, if they do not include people on their projects, there wouldn't be a project. But project management certification and training does not equip project managers to work with people. Simple people-focussed tools are the most powerful in the project managers' toolbox

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr Mike O’Callaghan   BSc (Hon). MSc, MBL, PhD, PMP, MSP ITIL

After a long career as an environmental scientist and managing large-scale research projects, Mike turned his hand to managing projects within corporate environments. Most of this time was spent as a contractor within the Oil & Gas and Financial Services sectors. He has 12 years as a PMP (mostly managing projects and programs within IT departments), an MBL and a passion for understanding how projects work. His understanding of how to do projects right, with a special interest in ‘People in Projects' has oft been employed to developed or improve processes and methodologies for client organisations. Mike is currently employed at Engen to develop project management governance and practice frameworks, and to develop Project Manager expertise through coaching and development
