Project management takes to the stars this November

The first Thursday of every November is International Project Management Day and this year it falls on the second of November.   PMSA celebrates International Project Management Day by uniting project management professionals at the PMSA Western Cape Regional Conference held from 2 to 3 November 2017 in Cape Town.  Not only does this conference celebrate the diversity of the many industries in which the discipline of project management is applied but also it takes project management professionals to the stars this year with a keynote address delivered by Dr Adriana Marais, a theoretical physicist and the Head of Innovation at SAP Africa.

Transformation and innovation are at the top of the agenda as PMSA continues to provide knowledge transfer opportunities through this year’s theme of Project Management Everywhere: Shaping the future through and for expert practice.  The inspirational line-up of expert speakers commences with Dr. Marais outlining how the establishment and potential discovery of evidence of life on Mars could be one of the most profound possible contributions of science to humanity.  Dr. Marais is currently one of the 100 Mars One Project astronaut candidates in the running to move to the red planet in the next decade.

The ensuing presentations sharpen business acumen and lead change for project managers from all disciplines.  Louise Worsley, P3 consultant, author of Stakeholder-led Project Management, and lecturer in project management at the University of Cape Town, talks about optimising the use of online Learning and social networks in project management and Martin Smit, PM Specialist, Consultant and Advisor at the Eskom Project Management Office, shares insights on how to implement and embed portfolio management best practices in an organisation.

With these emerging trends as a backdrop, project managers can’t afford to miss the critical conversation and knowledge sharing that has become synonymous with PMSA’s conferences and events.  From Guy Jelley, CEO of Project Portfolio Management to Tina Hiller, CEO of Next Level Consulting to Dillon Weyer , Scrum Master, Kanban Management Professional, Agile Coach, Consultant and Trainer, a compelling line-up of expert project management professionals complement the story of Dr. Marais’ journey to becoming an astronaut candidate and the pivotal role that best practices in project management play along both the journey to success and the journey to the stars.
